Let’s face it, the standard Cross Dissolve transitions are outdated and won’t cut it anymore when trying to make eye-catching videos. In this article, I will cover my 5 favorite video transitions in Final Cut Pro X.

TransDistort from Pixel Film Studios

Pixel Film Studios has a huge selection of plugins for Final Cut Pro and one of my favorites is the TransDistort Transitions. This set of 15 Dysmorphic transitions allow you to customize this unique “glitchy” transition to suite almost any video.

Fast Pan Transitions by Ryan Nangle

Ryan Nangle creates some amazing transitions, most he gives away for free, and one of my favorites is the Fast Pan Transition. This transition is a great way to go between scenes quickly or even speed up on specific scene. You can check out his tutorial on how you use this free transition below.

Color Split Transition by Industrial Revolution

This one is what I would call a “half transition”. This unique transition creates a split color block which will allow you to change the text to your liking and then split in half to reveal the next clip. It is a great transition and makes a great title slide to introduce your video.

10 Smooth Transitions by Lukas Eriksen

Lukas Eriksen was kind enough to not only create 10 transitions that are trendy and easy to use but give them away for free! All you have to do is subscribe to his channel on YouTube! Check out the video below so you can see these different transitions in action!

Ink 2 Transitions from MotionVFX

The Ink2 transitions from MotionVFX are simply amazing when you include them in the right video. In the Ink2 collection, you get 30 unique transitions that are easy to install and apply to your videos. See how they can add interest in your videos with the demo below.
