I am a firm believer that the best way to learn something is the act of doing and inspiration. This is especially true when it comes to the art of filmmaking. Here are 5 of my favorite content makers and videographers that have given me inspiration through the years!

Peter Mckinnon

If you know anything about filmmaking then you have certainly heard of Peter Mckinnon. Compared to some other YouTubers, he is relatively new but already has a huge following and for good reason. The videos, both cinematic and educational, are filmed for quality not quantity and even though a majority of the videos are geared toward the beginning filmmaker I still learn small things that inspire me to try new things in my videos. Also, he is a major coffee fan so we have that in common!

Daniel Schiffer

Even though he has almost 800k YouTube subscribers, Daniel Schiffer was relatively unknown to me but as soon as I found his videos I was hooked! One of the first videos he made that really caught my eye was a b-roll video project that was about making a salad. Sounds uninteresting right, but it was actually really awesome to see the amazing shots he was able to get with basically one camera and one lens. He has made more videos along those same lines and the Epic Pizza B-Roll is definitely my all-time favorite. Not only do you get the see the final product but you get to see a tutorial overview of how he made it! Very inspirational!

Triune Films

Triune Films is an indie production company and I first heard about them while watching Film Riot videos. I have always admired small productions like this as it shows that you can create amazing quality films with a minimal budget and a fantastic story. They have multiple indie films but my favorite is Proximity. The story, the camera work, and the overall cinematography is perfect!

Film Riot

Out of all the videos on this list I have probably watched the videos from Film Riot the most and for the longest time. Their behind-the-scenes videos and tutorials are perfect for any beginning filmmaker. If I ever want to try something new in my video projects I turn to these guys to figure it out. One bonus to these videos is they are absolutely hilarious and entertaining!

TSO Photography

TSO Photography has always been a favorite of mine. I can’t tell you how many times I have gone back to rewatch his videos when I looking for inspiration. Unfortuanlay for us, he only has a handful of videos to watch but they are absolutely amazing. If you are in the landscape videography genre, then these videos should be on your must-watch list!
